“Education without Values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make a man a MORE CLEVER DEVIL”

Bhallaladev was as proficient and practiced as Baahubali — witty, lionhearted, and abreast with everything
kindred to their kingdom: the laws, war craftsmanship, education, etc.

They both competed to inherit the coveted throne and performed equally exceptionally well.
But still, only Baahubali could be trusted with it — and hence was pronounced to be made the king.

    Where was the difference?

Well, the movie showed us the contrast between the two learned men:

    • While Bhallaladev lacked compassion, Baahubali had it.
    • One wanted to RULE, the other wanted to SERVE.
    • One was JEALOUS, the other was SELF-ASSURED.
    • One WANTED resources to win, the other could CREATE them.
    • One desired POWER, the other desired SERVICE.
    • One was DEPENDENT, the other was SELF-SUSTAINABLE.

Amidst similar resources, surroundings, circumstances, lifestyle, and exposure,
what truly made them starkly different was their inherent personality — their Value System.

And we are well aware of what that difference did to the entire narrative of the film.

As parents, teachers, and educators, we all aim to make our children intelligent — very intelligent.
Ask any child or parent what they want the child to become — you’ll hear doctor, singer, architect,
    engineer, teacher, entrepreneur…

But rarely do we hear someone say: “I want them to be a great human being.”

    Why?
Because being a good human being is not measurable like becoming a doctor is.
And we often assume that values will come automatically over time.

But the truth is: losing out on setting the right value system has serious consequences.

An astute, keen but unethical mind is the most dreadful thing on earth — as was Bhallaladev.

See the havoc he caused — to the entire kingdom and to his own family.
Beating him was a mammoth task.

Growing intelligent children without values is no less than creating monsters.

    Imagine:

    • A world with all brains and no heart.
    • A supremely learned doctor who uses his skills to prescribe overpriced, unnecessary treatments.
    • A smart, wealthy businessman with no compassion for people or the planet.
    • A powerful District Magistrate favoring wrong-doers for personal gain.
    • A brilliant lawyer who helps the guilty roam free.

Learned people rise to power because of knowledge —
but what they do with it is defined only by their Value System.

“Education without Values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make a man a MORE CLEVER DEVIL.”
    — C.S. Lewis

Value system is one of the most underrated elements in child development.
Even though we all recognize its importance, it’s never the priority.

While chasing concrete outcomes, we keep postponing value development —
not realizing that habits harden with time, and are difficult to change later.

A mediocre yet motivated mind will always find its way through the highs and lows of life.
But what do we do with an extraordinary, de-motivated mind?
