“Cassie and Cal, c’mon wake up!” called Jasmine.
"Are you going to wake up late even on your birthday?"
“Cal, wake up,” said Cassie, shaking him.
“Happy Birthday, twins!”
Jasmine and Jack, their parents, came downstairs, smiling.
“Thank you!”
Cassie and Cal hugged their parents.
At breakfast, Jasmine announced,
“We have a surprise for you!”
“Really, what?” asked Cassie and Cal together.
“Well, if you both quickly finish breakfast, get ready, and come into the car, we’ll take you there instead of telling you,” Jasmine replied with a mysterious smile.
The twins rushed to get ready and hopped into the car.
"I wonder where we are going!" whispered Cassie to Cal in the backseat.
"Yeah!" Cal replied, excitement shining in his eyes.
After just five minutes of driving, Cassie asked,
“Are we almost there?”
Jack chuckled,
“Dear, you know Charlottetown is a small town. There aren’t many places here. Since I can’t tell you where we’re going, I’ll just give you a hint—it’s outside town. So, it’ll take longer than you think.”
“What?!” Cassie and Cal exclaimed in surprise.
Seeing their faces, Jasmine and Jack burst into laughter.
"At least I brought a book," sighed Cal.
“No fair!” whined Cassie.
"Hey, no snatching, Cassie!" Cal replied, frustrated.
Poor Cal didn’t even get to read his book as his annoying twin sister kept an eye on him.
“Here we are!” Jack announced in a musical voice.
Cassie and Cal’s eyes widened as they realized where they were.
"Are we really at the museum?!" Cassie gasped.
Jasmine smiled, surprised,
"How did you know without even reading the name?"
“Oh, Mom! We always wanted to visit this museum, so we researched a lot about it. That’s why we recognized it!” Cal explained excitedly.
Jack, already heading toward the entrance, said,
“Well, let’s go explore the museum without wasting any time!”
Inside, their faces lit up with joy and amazement. They were assigned a tour guide named Tom, who led them through the famous Treasure Full Museum.
While exploring, Cal whispered to Cassie,
“Now we can make all the other kids in our class jealous, Cassie!”
“Oh yeah!” Cassie grinned.
Time flew by as they explored half the museum.
The tour guide announced,
“In the exact center of the museum, there’s a maze. At its heart is the most precious and unique art piece—The Gold Gadget.”
"It’s made out of real gold!" Tom added dramatically.
Cassie and Cal’s eyes widened in amazement.
“Let’s save it for the last, shall we, kids?” Jack suggested.
“Agreed,” Jasmine nodded.
Cassie and Cal also agreed excitedly.
Finally, after finishing the tour, Cassie pleaded,
“Can we go to the maze now to see the Gold Gadget?”
“Of course, dear! That’s our next stop,” Jasmine replied with a warm smile.
Tom led them to the maze.
“Are you ready, kids?” he asked.
“YES!” the twins shouted, bubbling with excitement.
“So, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” Jack cheered.
Just as they stepped into the maze, a loud siren suddenly blared through the museum.
"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"
Red lights flashed everywhere.
"What’s happening?!" Jasmine asked, alarmed.
Tom’s face paled.
“This alarm only rings when something is stolen!”
The museum filled with terrified shrieks. No one knew what to do.
It felt like time had stopped.
After what seemed like hours, the museum manager’s voice echoed over the speaker:
"I am heartbroken to announce that The Gold Gadget has been stolen.”
A wave of shock spread through the crowd.
"The police have already arrived and are searching for the thief. The museum will remain closed until further notice. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
The manager walked past their group.
"We hope the Gold Gadget returns to its rightful place soon," Jack said.
On the way back, Cassie and Cal looked miserable.
Their parents tried cheering them up, but even they were sad.
To make things worse, they got stuck in traffic, which delayed them by two hours.
When they finally reached home, Jasmine baked their favorite chocolate chip cookies, and Jack brought their all-time favorite birthday cake timbits to lift their spirits.
The twins brightened up at the delicious treats.
After eating, Cassie and Cal thanked their parents.
“You made our day special even after the museum tragedy,” they said, hugging them.
Jack grinned.
“So, kids—since everything is resolved, are you ready to cut your cake?”
“Oh yes, please!” the twins exclaimed together.
The twins enjoyed the rest of their birthday, despite the museum incident.
Their parents promised to take them back once the Gold Gadget was recovered!
